Alvaro Gonzalez Rivas

Alvaro Gonzalez Rivas is a PhD candidate at the Department of Information Systems (DISA), School of Computing, National University of Singapore. He was under the supervision of Dr. Tuan Q. Phan , who is now an Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) Business School. He expects to obtain his PhD degree under the supervision of Dr. Heng Cheng Suang.

Alvaro's research focus is on FinTech, particularly, on Financial Literacy, Credit Scoring, and Digital Transformation. He has presented several short papers at prestigious international conferences such as ICIS, and PACIS. Alvaro has been honoured with several awards, including the NUS Research Scholarship, the AI Singapore grant, and the NUS SOC Research Achievement Award.

Alvaro is an active member of the Association for Information Systems, an actively collaborates as a reviewer. He received his B.S. in Telecommunications Systems Engineering (Universidad Iberoamericana Noroeste (Summa Cum Laude). He did a specialization in C.S at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology, Japan. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Melbourne, with an exchange the Booth Business School, University of Chicago. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and an active member of the Singapore CFA society, and is currently a level 1 FRM Candidate.
